Nian Sun is the director of the W.M. Keck Laboratory for Integrated Ferroics at Northeastern University, a professor of bioengineering and electrical and computer engineering, as well as the founder and chief technical advisor of Winchester Technologies, LLC. He graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D. He worked as a Scientist for IBM and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies before coming to Northeastern University. Humboldt Research Award, NSF CAREER Award, ONR Young Investigator Award, Søren Buus Outstanding Research Award, Outstanding Translational Research Award, etc. were among the honours bestowed upon Dr. Sun. innovative devices and microsystems in the fields of magnetic, ferroelectric, and multiferroic materials, as well as innovative gas sensors and systems, are among his areas of interest. In addition to over 30 patents and patent applications, he has over 280 publications. Among the "ten most outstanding full papers in the past decade (2001~2010) in Advanced Functional Materials," one of his papers was chosen. Over 180 plenary, keynote, invited, and seminar lectures have been given by Dr. Sun. In addition to being a fellow of the IEEE, Institute of Physics, and Institution of Engineering and Technology, he edits Sensors and IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.
